Dave is an American journalist in Yangon, Myanmar, where he trains local television and radio correspondents. He also freelances stories across Southeast Asia for international news outlets. Dave’s assignments include covering Myanmar’s on-going transition from military to civilian rule along with the plight of the country’s Rohingya Muslims who are stateless and live under apartheid conditions.

A five-time Emmy-nominated journalist, Dave’s work has been featured by Reuters Broadcast, BBC, CBC, CNN.com, Time.com, Deutsche Welle and NPR. He covers foreign affairs, social issues, politics, economics, natural disasters and human interest stories. Dave’s adept at handling breaking news and in-depth reporting.  When Dave was a local news correspondent in Syracuse, New York, he developed a series of investigative reports that showed how lax state laws contributed to the death of a volunteer firefighter during a training exercise. The stories helped spur reforms.

Dave volunteered full-time as an English teacher at a high school in Hunan Province, China from 2009–2010. He has also traveled across Southeast Asia onboard smelly buses, leaky riverboats and overcrowded trains.
